COKE-QUENCHING ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE EK-14U

ЭК-14У

 In 2005 EK-14U were delievered to JSC MECHEL , well-known metal­lurgical concern MITTAL STEEL (Kaza­khstan) and now successfully operate on its coke batteries. Electric locomo­tives were produced and delivered to the enterprises of CIS.

      At the present time the modifica­tion - EK14U  is under production. It is intended for the transportation of coke-quenching wagons and coke wagons between coke ovens with 41,6 гпЗ capacity and quenching instal­lations while either dry or wet coke-quenching.

Has improved traction and power characteristics due to the application of the system of traction motors sepa­rate excitation.

Electrical part of control system is made with the use of semi-conductor technics (thyristors, integral circuits, etc). The upkeep of permanent values of traction force and creeping speeds is totally automatic. Traction motors of direct current operate off three-phase supply line at 380V, 50 Hz using thyristor convertor. It is also possible to operate off the supply line of 460V, 60 Hz.

Provides safe operation in temper­ature rate from -50 up to +60'C.

The application of enclosed engines also reduces the quantity of failures.
